Ethics Committee
The Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) of Dharamshila Hospital and Research Centre (DHRC) is a self regulatory body under the provisions of DHRC society. The chairman and members confirm to the ethical guidelines for biomedical research on human subjects issued by the Indian Council for Medical in November 2006. It is multidisciplinary, multisectoral and its members have been carefully chosen for their independence and competence. The chairperson is a senior legal expert.The IEC ensures a competent review of all ethical aspects of research projects that are received in the hospital free of bias and influence that could affect their objectivity. It provides advice to the researchers on all aspects of the welfare and safety of the research participants after evaluating the scientific soundness and technical excellence of the projects (through an appropriate scientific review committee). It protects the dignity, rights and well being of the participants, and ensures that universal ethical values and international scientific standards are expressed in terms of local community values and customs. IEC assists in developing and responsive to local healthcare needs.
